🫣 This is why your funnel is broken

Seven-day click, one-day engage-through, one-day view, set once at ad set level and never revisited. Every campaign in the account gets measured against the same math regardless of what it was built to do.

A retargeting campaign converting buyers who already know the product. A net-new-reach campaign introducing the brand to a cold audience for the first time. Same window. Same judgment. Completely different jobs.

The net-new campaign looks weak. It gets cut. The efficiency campaigns that were cashing in on its upstream work start declining three weeks later, and nobody connects the two events.

The Window Should Follow The Job

Attribution windows are not account settings. They are goal settings. The window should be decided when the campaign objective is decided, not inherited from whatever was configured at launch.

Under a tight window, net-new campaigns will always look like they are failing. They are not failing. They are being measured by the wrong instrument.

Run The Mismatch Audit Now

Pull every active campaign. Tag each one by its primary job: efficiency, net-new reach, brand data gathering, or retention. Then check what attribution window each is actually being measured against.

The pattern in most accounts is the same: campaigns doing top-of-funnel work being judged on bottom-of-funnel math, producing weak numbers, getting cut, and quietly starving the efficiency campaigns that depended on them. The account compounds on BOFU. The top dries up. CAC rises, and the team blames creative.

The creative was not the problem.

Make The Window A Brief Decision, Not An Account Default

The structural fix takes one change to your campaign brief template.

Add one field: attribution window, matched to objective. Every new campaign gets briefed with three things: objective, success metric, and attribution window. The decision gets made upfront instead of inherited from a setting nobody remembers configuring.

It also forces the conversation about what each campaign is actually for, which is the conversation the account-wide default has been letting everyone avoid.

The window was always a goal setting. Most accounts have been running it as an account default since the day it was opened.

🔍 Google expands AI Search reporting and testing

Google announced new Search Console reporting for AI-powered search experiences while also beginning to test healthcare advertising inside AI Mode. Together, the updates offer publishers and advertisers a clearer view of how Google plans to measure and monetize AI Search.

The Breakdown:

Search Console adds AI data - Google launched new Search Generative AI performance reports showing impressions, pages, countries, devices, and date-based visibility data for AI Overviews, AI Mode, and AI-powered Discover features.

Testing begins with select sites - The new reports are currently available to a subset of websites as Google gathers feedback before expanding access to more publishers and site owners.

Google starts ad testing - Google confirmed a limited U.S. test allowing healthcare advertisers to appear inside AI Mode, marking one of the first advertising experiments within its AI-powered search experience.

Existing ad formats are eligible - Performance Max, AI Max with search term matching, Shopping campaigns, and broad match campaigns can participate, though the initial test includes creative restrictions.

Google is simultaneously building the measurement tools and monetization systems needed for AI Search. Publishers are getting their first dedicated AI visibility reports, while advertisers are getting an early look at how paid placements may eventually work inside AI-generated search results.

🫠Google just scored your site’s AI readiness. Most sites are failing on the basics.

Google Lighthouse’s new Agentic Browsing report audits how prepared your site is for AI agents acting on behalf of users. Three categories. A ratio score showing how many checks you pass. A Google-backed framework that didn’t exist six months ago.

The surprise isn’t that sites are failing. It’s what they’re failing on. Not cutting-edge agentic protocols. Not WebMCP integration. Accessibility tree integrity and layout stability, technical fundamentals most practitioners haven’t touched in years.

Here’s how to run the audit and fix what it finds.

Run the audit and triage in the right order

The Agentic Browsing report is only accessible through Chrome Canary, not standard Chrome. Open Chrome Canary, run Lighthouse on your highest-priority pages, and select the Agentic Browsing category.

Your ratio score shows how many checks you pass across three categories. Fix them in this sequence:

• Accessibility tree names and labels first - interactive elements without descriptive action-oriented labels are invisible to AI agents trying to navigate your site. A button labeled “Submit” tells an agent nothing. “Submit contact form” tells it exactly what the action does.

• CLS second - Cumulative Layout Shift above threshold signals an unstable page structure that AI agents can’t reliably interact with. Fix render-blocking resources and reserve space for dynamic content before moving to anything else.

• llms.txt third - Google’s own guidance confirms llms.txt is not required for generative AI search. It matters specifically for sites with agent-invokable elements. Add it last, not first.

This sequence matters. Practitioners are prioritizing llms.txt because it’s the most discussed. Google’s audit weights accessibility tree integrity higher because that’s where agent interaction actually breaks.

Once your agentic readiness score improves, track whether the fixes are translating into AI visibility gains. Use the score as a stakeholder argument

The ratio score is a Google-backed benchmark. That matters beyond the technical fix.

Accessibility investment and technical debt reduction are consistently underfunded because the ROI argument is abstract. A Google-issued agentic readiness score makes the argument concrete.

Present it in the same budget conversation where “future-proofing” arguments have failed before. The score reframes neglected technical work as a measurable gap on a Google-published standard.

Fix the basics first. The agentic protocols come later.

🔍 AI Overviews are changing how people search on Google

A study of 846,000 Google searches found that AI Overviews are keeping users on search results pages longer and encouraging more comparison behavior before clicks happen, changing how brands compete for attention.

The Breakdown:

Google keeps attention longer - AI Overviews increased engagement across every search type, with roughly 42% to 49% of users still active after 21 seconds compared with much lower engagement without AI summaries.

Navigational traffic became less certain - Users searching directly for brands or websites spent far longer on Google when AI Overviews appeared, with engagement at 21 seconds jumping from 12% to 46%.

Reading replaces quick clicking - Users paused their cursors more frequently and explored larger portions of the page, suggesting a shift from fast scanning toward evaluating and comparing multiple options.

Back-scrolling increased sharply - Users with AI Overviews spent nearly half of their scrolling time moving back up the page, revisiting listings and comparing results instead of making immediate decisions.

AI Overviews are turning Google from a quick traffic gateway into a place where users actively evaluate options before clicking. For brands, ranking still matters, but titles, descriptions, and search previews now carry much more weight because users are spending more time scrutinizing what appears on the results page.

Guilt Removal - The headline eliminates the primary emotional barrier before consumers evaluate the product. It reframes indulgence from a compromise into a smart decision.

Benefit Stacking - Bright skin, healthy hair, muscle recovery, and joint support target multiple motivations simultaneously. One product suddenly feels capable of solving several wellness goals.

Dessert Camouflage - The exposed bar resembles a bakery snack more than a supplement. This reduces the clinical feel that often hurts functional food appeal.

When your product solves multiple problems, visualize the outcomes around the product instead of listing ingredients. Consumers rarely buy compounds or formulas. They buy the future version of themselves those ingredients promise.

Outbound clicks and landing page views are not the same number. Most teams assume they are. A 5-10% gap is standard. A 10-20% gap exists in more accounts than anyone wants to admit. Every click that never becomes a session is ad spend that funded a metric distortion, and every budget decision downstream is being made against a number that was wrong before the math started.

The creative you pulled last month might have been your best performer. You will never know because you measured the wrong thing.

Run This Pull Today

Open Meta Ads Manager. Pull outbound clicks and landing page views side by side for every active campaign over the last 30 days. Calculate the gap as a percentage.

If the gap is consistent across all creatives, the problem is account-wide: page speed, mobile experience, server response. If it varies sharply by creative, the problem is creative-specific: broken redirect, wrong URL, mismatched destination.

The Real Problem Is Nobody Owns The Handoff

Page speed and broken redirects are the technical diagnosis. The actual cause is structural.

The ad team owns outbound clicks. The website team owns the landing page. The gap lives in the space between them and belongs to nobody. The ad team flags slow load times. The website team queues the fix behind work affecting more general traffic. The paid clicks keep leaking while the ticket sits in a backlog.

Run the recalculation across your last 30 days. The creatives that looked like underperformers will separate into two groups: ones that were genuinely weak, and ones that were winning at the click level and losing only at the landing level.

The second group does not need to be pulled. It needs the leak closed.

The ad was doing its job. The funnel was not.

Core Update shakes search - Google’s May Core Update, which began rolling out on May 21, triggered multiple waves of ranking volatility across search results, with recent activity suggesting the rollout may be nearing completion.

Google upgrades lead tracking - A new lead management dashboard tracks leads through every funnel stage, including new, qualified, lost, and converted leads, while feeding quality signals directly into bidding systems.

AI Max gets new options - Google is rolling out branded search controls inside AI Max, allowing advertisers to target all searches, only branded searches, or focus exclusively on acquiring new non-branded customers.

Google is increasingly shifting ad optimization away from clicks and lead volume toward actual business outcomes. At the same time, search marketers are still navigating ranking fluctuations as the latest Core Update continues reshaping visibility across the web.

AI Max Gets Branded Search Controls - A new setting lets advertisers run AI Max on unbranded searches only, directly addressing the campaign type’s biggest criticism since launch. Not confirmed as a global rollout yet.

No More Relying on Exclusion Lists - Previously, there was no native way to stop AI Max from cannibalizing branded campaigns. This control makes that separation cleaner and more transparent at the campaign level.

New Prospects Mode Finds Brand-Unaware Audiences - This mode excludes anyone who has purchased, searched your brand, visited your site, or engaged with your content across Google and YouTube, focusing spend entirely on cold audiences.

Brands valuing new customers at twice the average order value already saw a 9% ROAS improvement using New Customer Acquisition Value Mode. Google appears to be responding to advertiser pressure by pairing AI automation with better data and cleaner controls.

👀Visuals Matter In AI SEO

Infographics are the highest-ROI visual investment in content marketing right now. Not featured images. Not a video. Infographics, when placed correctly and designed with sound logic, consistently outperform other visual assets on pages with organic demand.

The question worth asking isn’t whether they work. It’s why, and whether you’re using them, where the mechanism actually fires.

Place infographics at the exact moment readers drop off

Infographics don’t work because they look good. They work because they convert the highest-risk moment on any page, where dense explanatory content causes readers to leave, into a sustained engagement signal.

Pull your scroll depth data for your top ten evergreen pages. Find the section where drop-off spikes. That section is your infographic placement, not the top of the page, not the conclusion, but the moment the content gets hardest to absorb.

An infographic placed at the drop-off point eliminates the exit signal Google was already reading as a quality indicator against your content. Time on page improves. Bounce signals drop. The page looks more authoritative to the same ranking system that was already evaluating it.

Design every infographic to work without the page around it

A page at position six with strong content and an infographic addition generates engagement signals at the exact moment Google is evaluating whether it belongs in the top three.

Pull Search Console data filtered by positions four to fifteen. Sort by impression volume.

Pages at the top of that list are your production priority, demonstrated demand, a realistic path to position improvement, and the highest probability of measurable traffic lift within 60 to 90 days. Design amplifies demand. It doesn’t create it. Put the asset where the demand already exists.

📊 Click Costs Dropped Broadly, But Conversion Rates Collapsed Even Faster

Last week produced one of the sharpest CVR deterioration patterns in recent months. Cheap clicks arrived across several platforms simultaneously, but the conversion side gave back far more than the cost savings created, leaving net efficiency worse than it looks.

The Breakdown:

CPC - YouTube, Google, Axon, Snapchat, and Microsoft all saw click costs fall while Meta held flat, where CPCs dropped but CVR collapsed simultaneously, pause spend increases and audit audience overlap before assuming cheaper inventory is usable.

CAC - YouTube improved sharply while Meta, Google, Microsoft, and Snapchat all worsened. YouTube’s CAC improvement, alongside positive CVR and ROAS makes it the only platform this week where scaling spend has a defensible data case.

ROAS - Pinterest posted +5.62%, and YouTube held positive at +2.07% while Axon (-10.95%), Meta (-5.75%), and Snapchat (-5.30%) deteriorated, concentrate new creative tests on Pinterest and YouTube, and freeze incremental spend on declining platforms until returns show a floor.

Meta holds 52.66% of tracked spend with -5.75% ROAS and -5.36% CvR, while YouTube at 3.60% is the only major platform posting positive results across CAC, CvR, and ROAS simultaneously.

Shift incremental budget toward YouTube now, hold Pinterest for creative testing, and treat this week’s broad CvR collapse as a signal to tighten audience targeting across every active campaign before next week’s spend decisions.

What Works:

Occasion Expansion - The ad creates four consumption triggers in a single frame. More use cases mean higher purchase justification and faster habit formation post-purchase.

Behavioral Anchoring - “First thing,” “midday slump,” and “after nights out” map directly onto existing routines, reducing adoption friction because consumers already recognize those moments emotionally.

Stimulant Positioning - “Without another coffee or sugar hit” strategically positions the product against caffeine fatigue, tapping consumers actively trying to reduce stimulant dependency.

If your product suffers from low consumption frequency, create multiple emotionally recognizable usage moments inside one creative. Expanding occasions often scale revenue faster than improving features.

🔎 This is losing you AI citation

Match the format Google rewards (list, guide, tool, comparison). Google can still surface a partially-mismatched format if the content is strong. This is the standard SEO Advice. AI engines are stricter. A “best X for Y” query won’t cite a feature page no matter how good the page is. Format match is binary on AI engines, not graded.

Audit Your Top 20 Pages Against AI Query Format Patterns

Pull your highest-traffic pages and tag each by the query format it answers: comparison, list, guide, definitional, use-case, recommendation. Then run the queries those pages should rank for through ChatGPT and Perplexity.

Doing this audit manually across top pages and three engines is the work most teams are still patching together with prompts. Identify The Queries You Should Be Cited For But Aren’t

The restructure: rebuild the highest-priority pages to match query format exactly, with clear heading hierarchies. Comparison content needs comparison structure. Recommendation content needs recommendation structure.

In Google, format mismatch costs you ranking. In AI engines, it costs you the citation entirely.

The highest-leverage learning activity in performance marketing is a structured study of one competitor doing 10-20x your revenue. Many of us are now using AI tools to do this at scale, which is the right instinct.

OpenAI Is Coming for Performance Budgets - ChatGPT is preparing ads for purchases, bookings, and form submissions where advertisers only pay when actions happen, targeting local businesses like dry cleaners and appointment services that Google and Meta currently own.

OpenAI Is Building Tracking Infrastructure Too - An ad pixel tracks post-click activity and API integrations send conversion data back into OpenAI’s systems, building a measurement ecosystem that mirrors what Google and Meta have operated for years.

Both platforms now reward advertisers who feed back real business outcomes, not just form fills. Google is automating more of the ad journey. OpenAI is entering with performance pricing. Winners on either will be the ones with the richest data loops.

Google just confirmed that AI search features are governed by the same crawl and indexing systems as traditional search. If an AI crawler can’t access your site, no amount of content optimization moves the needle.

Most sites are blocking at least one AI crawler right now. Not intentionally. Through CDN configurations and WAF rules set up years ago that nobody has revisited since AI crawlers became citation sources.

Here’s how to find it and fix it.

1. Audit your robots.txt for AI crawler user agents

Standard SEO audits check Googlebot. Almost none check the four AI crawler user agents that determine your AI visibility ceiling:

• ChatGPT-User

• OAI-SearchBot

• Perplexity-User

• Claude-SearchBot

Open your robots.txt and search for each string. A disallow rule on any of them is a hard cap on that platform’s citation visibility, regardless of content quality, entity signals, or anything else you’ve optimized.

Find a block? Remove it and resubmit through Google Search Console. Then go deeper.

2. Check server logs for AI crawler rejections

Robots.txt is only one layer. CDN and WAF configurations block AI crawlers at the infrastructure level, returning 403 or 429 responses that never surface in standard SEO reporting.

Pull your server logs. Filter for requests from each AI crawler user agent. Look for:

• 403, infrastructure actively rejecting the crawler

• 429, rate-limiting it to the point of ineffectiveness

This is where the real problem lives. A robots.txt block is visible. An infrastructure block is invisible until you specifically look for it.

Real Names Add What Reddit Lacks - Forum uses Facebook’s real identity system, adding accountability that anonymous platforms can’t match. If it finds its footing, active Facebook Groups could become where customers discover you before they ever search Google.

TikTok Shop Is a Real Commerce Platform Now - $14B in US sales surpassing Etsy, Wayfair, and eBay. 215,000+ small businesses selling with sales up 66%. People come for entertainment and leave with things in their cart.

Creators Who Feel Real Are the Engine - 7 in 10 buyers purchased because a creator told them to. Smaller brands are making gains simply by showing up genuinely on camera, with countdown bidding and shoppable photos expanding the selling surface further.

Forum could turn Facebook Groups into a discovery layer competing with Reddit and Google for niche queries. TikTok Shop is proving that creator-driven commerce works at scale for small brands that just show up authentically. Both show that the platforms people use for conversation and entertainment are becoming where they buy.

If your category feels restrictive or functional, inject visual pleasure and retail-style aesthetics into the creative. Consumers adopt habits faster when products feel culturally desirable, not medically responsible.

📊 Grades don’t really matter

Quality Score gets reported as a single 1-10 number in Google Ads. It’s composed of three sub-components (Expected CTR, Ad Relevance, Landing Page Experience), each pointing to a completely different fix.

Most teams look at the headline score and rewrite ad copy when the actual problem is the landing page. The score is a router, not an answer, and treating it as a single number sends the wrong fix to the wrong problem.

Pull All Three Quality Score Components, Not The Rolled-Up Number

The rolled-up Quality Score is the symptom display. The component view is the diagnostic.

In Google Ads, the three components are visible at the keyword level: Expected CTR, Ad Relevance, and Landing Page Experience. Each is rated “Above Average,” “Average,” or “Below Average.”

A keyword with a Quality Score of 4 could have Below Average on one component and Average on the other two, or Below Average on all three. These are different problems requiring different fixes.

Route Each Below-Average Component To Its Specific Fix

Once the components are visible, the fix vocabulary becomes specific.

Expected CTR Below Average points to ad copy and offer. The fix is rewriting the headline, the offer, or both. Ad Relevance Below Average points to the keyword-to-ad match. The fix is tightening ad copy to mirror keyword intent, or restructuring the ad group around tighter themes.

Landing Page Experience Below Average points to the page itself: page speed, mobile experience, content relevance, form experience. The fix lives outside the ad account entirely.

These are not interchangeable. Rewriting ad copy when the problem is landing page won’t move the score. Rebuilding the landing page when the problem is ad relevance won’t either.

Treat Quality Score As A Diagnostic Prompt, Not A Goal To Optimize Directly

Most teams set “improve Quality Score” as the goal and then chase the headline number. The number is downstream. Chasing it directly is the same mistake as chasing ROAS without diagnosing what’s broken.

The right frame uses Quality Score as a prompt to investigate. A keyword with a low score tells you to pull the components, identify the broken one, apply the specific fix, and move on. The score will follow.

Quality Score is a router. The components are the answer.

Google introduced conversational ad formats for AI Mode at GML 2026. OpenAI rolled out budgeting, targeting, and reporting upgrades to its Ads Manager Beta while quietly testing dynamic CTAs inside ChatGPT.

The Breakdown:

Google Ads Now Live Inside AI Conversations - Conversational Discovery ads answer questions directly in AI Mode with Gemini-generated creative plus an independent AI explainer that evaluates product info alongside the ad, making ads feel contextual, not interruptive.

More Formats for Shopping and Leads - Highlighted Answers place ads inside AI recommendation lists. AI Shopping ads generate custom product explainers. Business Agent for Leads replaces static forms with Gemini-powered chat trained on your website.

OpenAI Adds Budget and Geo Controls - Ads Manager Beta now supports daily budgets alongside lifetime, plus geo targeting at state, DMA, and zip code level across the US, bringing ChatGPT’s ad tools closer to Google and Meta standards.

Dynamic CTAs Testing Inside ChatGPT - A small subset of ads now show auto-selected CTAs like Shop Now, Book Now, and Sign Up based on creative and destination, signalling OpenAI is starting to optimise for engagement and conversion.

Both platforms are moving toward conversational intent-driven ad formats embedded inside AI experiences. Google is further ahead but OpenAI is building fast. Early movers on either will have an advantage before costs rise.

What Works:

Objection Mapping - Every callout targets a known sunscreen frustration: irritation, weak protection, sweat failure, or fragrance sensitivity. The ad removes anxiety before consumers even consider alternatives.

Cognitive Compression - Consumers can evaluate the entire product within seconds because benefits are spatially separated. This reduces scanning fatigue common in skincare ads overloaded with tiny text.

Category Familiarity - The bright blue and yellow palette instantly signals “sun protection” before the brain consciously reads SPF. Familiar category coding speeds recognition during fast scrolling.

List your category’s top anxieties visually around the product like a reassurance map. Consumers often convert faster when they feel protected from bad outcomes, not promised extraordinary ones.

📊 Snapchat Quietly Became the Most Efficient Channel This Week, And Almost No One Is Allocated There

Last week’s signals were messy at the surface, but coherent underneath. Costs and returns moved in opposite directions across most major platforms, and the channels holding the clearest efficiency story are the ones receiving the least budget attention.

The Breakdown:

CPC - Meta and TikTok saw click costs fall while Google and YouTube pushed higher. CPC dropped, but CAC worsened; like TikTok and YouTube, don’t treat cheaper clicks as a green light; tighten audience segments first.

CAC - Snapchat, Pinterest, and “all other platforms” improved while YouTube, TikTok, Axon, and Google worsened. Platforms improving CAC deserve incremental budget tests at controlled spend levels to confirm whether gains hold before committing to a full shift.

ROAS - Snapchat led at +5.88%, and Axon posted +3.04% while Pinterest collapsed at -7.76% and Meta slipped -2.53%, rotate creative attention toward Snapchat and Axon this week, and hold Pinterest spend flat until ROAS stabilizes.

Meta holds 52.37% share and Google 19.68%, over 70% combined, while Snapchat at 0.96% is posting the week’s best ROAS with improving CAC. Move a test budget into Snapchat now, reduce exposure on Pinterest and Meta where both ROAS and CvR are declining, and don’t let share inertia drive next week’s allocation.

What Works:

Emotional Substitution: The dessert serves as a stand-in for effort and affection. Consumers subconsciously read the product as a relationship-building tool rather than a snack purchase.

Social Utility - The product gains gifting utility here. Consumers now mentally categorize it for dates, apologies, celebrations, and mood-repair moments instead of everyday consumption only.

Scenario Marketing - Instead of promoting flavors, the ad sells a moment that people already emotionally recognize. That dramatically improves memorability compared to generic food photography.

Most retention teams build cart and checkout recovery as a single sequence with branching logic, because templates ship that way, and the abandonment events feel like steps in the same journey. They are not. The cart abandoner is still deciding and needs convincing. The checkout abandoner has already decided and hit a barrier.

Strategy 1: Stop Branching The Two Flows And Separate Them At The Architecture Level

🥲 Why are they testing laps yours

Two brands can run identical creative volume on TikTok and learn at completely different speeds. The difference is how many feedback sources each tests against.

A brand running TikTok as a connected system tests every variant against four signals: paid performance, organic engagement, creator response, and Shop conversion. A brand running channels in isolation tests against only the channel that funded the creative, getting one reading where the connected brand gets four.

Strategy 1: Audit Your Testing Process For Single-Source Dependency

Pull your last testing cycle and write down which signals actually informed the keep-or-kill call on each variant. For most teams the honest answer is one signal, usually paid CTR, the channel with the budget and the attention.

Single-source testing is slow by structure. It waits for one channel to reach statistical confidence before it acts, and never sees the variant that lost on paid but earned saves on organic, often the one that scales best.

Strategy 2: Build A Four-Source Scoring Rubric For Every Variant

Generic cross-channel intent never changes behavior. A scoring rubric does. Grade every variant against four signals before the keep-or-kill call.

The rubric:

• Paid CTR (earns the click in a paid placement)

• Organic save rate (earns the save when nobody paid to show it)

• Creator response (creators want to make their own version)

• Shop click-through (moves someone toward the product page)

A variant winning three of four is a scale candidate even if it lost on the source you usually watch. A variant winning one of four is a false positive you would have scaled under single-source testing.

ROAS - Google led at +4.99%, and Axon posted +4.49% while Snapchat (-6.80%), Pinterest (-5.35%), and YouTube (-2.79%) all declined, pulling incremental spend from the three declining platforms and consolidating where returns are compounding.

Meta holds 52.60% of tracked spend, and Google sits at 19.25%, a notable shift from prior weeks, while YouTube at 2.99% is posting -13.05% CvR and -2.79% ROAS with rising CAC. 🫣 The Meta Placement Leak Quietly Destroying High-Intent Traffic

A surprising number of Meta accounts do not have a creative problem, a pricing problem, or even a targeting problem. They have a routing problem.

The creator’s audience is your targeting signal. Pick creators who look like your customers, and you cancel it.

Partnership ads work because the creator’s audience does cold targeting for you. Most brands undo this by picking creators whose audiences look like people already buying. You think you’re reaching new customers. You’re hitting the same warm pool through a different face.

Strategy 1: Check If Your Creators Are Identity-Matched Or Adjacent

Three creators look different on camera. Their audiences look identical in the data. Which problem are you solving?

If three or more active creators share the same demo and niche, Meta is hitting the same cold pool through three different faces. A skincare buyer can be reached through a beauty creator, but the cold pool only opens when she’s also reached through a home decor creator with a similar audience, or a parenting creator whose followers share her life stage but not her category.

🔍 A 1,885-Page Study Just Challenged One of SEO’s Favorite AI Visibility Tactics

JSON-LD schema is code embedded in pages to signal content structure to search engines. Ahrefs ran a controlled study across 1,885 pages to test whether adding it actually improves how often AI systems cite your content.

The Breakdown:

The 3x Gap Was Never Proof - AI-cited pages carry schema far more often than uncited ones. But those same pages also publish better content and build stronger backlinks. The association was always about site quality, not schema itself.

Numbers Across All Three Platforms Came Back Flat - AIO fell 4.6% against matched controls. AI Mode gained 2.4% and ChatGPT 2.2%, neither clearing the threshold for statistical significance across four separate tests.

The AIO Drop Is Smaller Than It Looks - Control pages were declining too before schema was introduced. The gap between groups amounted to around 12 fewer daily citations on pages already pulling hundreds.

These Pages Were Never a Fair Test - Every URL in the dataset had cleared 100+ AIO citations before the study began. Pages already visible to AI have little room to gain from structural markup.

AI systems, including ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, pulled only visible HTML during live fetches, skipping JSON-LD entirely. Schema still drives rich results and entity recognition. For citation volume on established pages, the data says it changes nothing.

2. The dark moss environment does the “natural and ancient” storytelling, the copy doesn’t need to. Forest floor, wet stone, ambient darkness, the set design communicates pre-industrial purity without a single ingredient callout or “all-natural” badge.

3. 13,000+ reviews placed bottom-right is a trust anchor timed perfectly. It appears after curiosity is already triggered by the headline. At that point, social proof doesn’t create desire; it removes the last remaining friction before the click.

If your product format is unfamiliar, don’t explain it, historicize it. Framing something as ancestral wisdom bypasses the “does this actually work” objection entirely and replaces it with “why did we ever stop using this.”

🤓 Why fear the learning phase?

The orthodoxy around Meta’s learning phase is to fear the reset, because the algorithm needs roughly 50 conversion events per 7-day window per ad set to exit learning cleanly, and resets cost both time and money. That orthodoxy holds for accounts scaling cleanly, where the goal is protecting signal accumulation against disruption.

It collapses the moment your account gets stuck, because once your audience pool has saturated, your top creative has fatigued, and your CPMs have crept up over weeks, the learning phase becomes the only mechanism that can force Meta to rebuild delivery from scratch.

Triggering it deliberately, with diagnostics in front and a plan behind, separates stuck accounts from compounding ones.

Strategy 1: Diagnose Saturation Before You Trigger Anything

Resetting learning costs at least one week and roughly 50 conversion events to rebuild. Triggering it without saturation wastes both.

The diagnostic:

The common reset mistake is rebuilding the campaign structure entirely. New ad sets, new budgets, new audiences. This resets learning but discards the accumulated signal that was still useful, including pixel-level audience modeling.

The cleaner trigger is changing the optimization event itself. Move from Purchase to Initiate Checkout temporarily, forcing Meta to rebuild the delivery model against a different event type, which clears saturation while preserving the underlying account signal.

After 7 to 14 days, switch back to your original target. The algorithm rebuilds its primary model with saturation cleared and a deeper signal intact.

Outside of learning, audience expansion confuses a stable delivery model. Inside the reset, Meta is rebuilding from scratch, which means expansion gets folded into the new baseline rather than disrupting an existing one.

During the trigger window:

• Broaden 1-2% lookalikes to 3-5% on your strongest seed

• Layer in adjacent interest stacks you have previously avoided

• Increase the budget enough to hit roughly 50 conversion events within the 7-day window

The reset pays back twice when you use the rebuild window to introduce the expansion you have been delaying.

Pinterest updated its ad relevance model to factor in real-time user behavior, while Meta is reportedly building an AI agent that can automate tasks and complete purchases on users’ behalf across its apps.

The Breakdown:

Pinterest Reads What You Want Now - Pinterest’s updated ad model combines past conversion history with real-time search behavior, showing a 3x to 10x improvement in ad relevance during testing.

The Performance Numbers Are Real - Median ad relevance improved 275 to 300% in testing. Related Pins saw a 1.08% ads relevance improvement with 2x more ad candidates reaching impressions.

Meta is Building Hatch - Meta is reportedly developing Hatch, an AI agent inside its apps that handles tasks like chat summaries, competitor monitoring, and auto birthday messages conversationally.

And a Shopping Agent Too - A separate Instagram tool would find products, compare prices, and complete purchases without leaving Reels. See a t-shirt, ask the agent, done.

Pinterest’s relevance update is already in production with meaningful gains for advertisers. Meta’s tools are still in development, but if they land, the gap between seeing a product and owning it on Instagram shrinks to one conversation.

What Works:

1. The three-word headline is a purchase timeline compressed into punctuation - Gooey = product desire. Going = social scarcity. Gone = loss aversion. Most brands pick one lever. This headline pulls all three in sequence, in under a second.

2. “Only at Target” is exclusivity reframed as convenience, not gatekeeping. It doesn’t say “exclusive,” which sounds elitist. It says “only at,” which sounds like a tip from a friend. The Target logo does the rest, trusted, accessible, already in the weekly routine.

3. The stacked s’more cross-section is a texture trigger, not a product shot. Peanut butter dripping between layers activates multisensory anticipation. The brain doesn’t see food photography. It simulates eating it. That’s a conversion mechanism.

Write your next urgency headline as a three-beat sequence: product appeal, momentum signal, consequence of inaction. “Gooey. Going. Gone.” is a template, not a tagline. Slot your own product in and test it.

1. “Viral” in the headline is borrowed social proof with zero spend. It doesn’t say “popular” or “bestselling.” Viral implies organic mass validation, which carries more weight with supplement-aware buyers than any review count badge would.

2. “Cortisol Cleanse” is a named mechanism that owns a search term. Branding the product around a specific biological process rather than a generic outcome (”stress relief”) creates a proprietary concept the brand can dominate in AI search and social SEO.

3. The sale discount is placed at the bottom like a closing argument, not an opener. Leading with “viral” and ingredients builds perceived value first. The 20% off lands after desire is set, so it reads as reward rather than desperation.

Name your product after the biological mechanism it addresses, not the lifestyle outcome. “Cortisol Cleanse” is searchable, ownable, and TikTok-explainable in ways that “stress support gummies” never will be.

Prime Day is nine weeks out. The brands that will dominate it aren’t preparing. They already did.

Peak performance is a lagging indicator of off-season decisions. By the time July arrives, structural advantages are locked in or lost. The auction just reveals which one.

Your ad account is carrying six months of dead weight.

Campaigns built around last quarter’s hero SKUs are still bidding on keywords for products you quietly demoted, stopped restocking, or repriced out of contention. That inefficiency is invisible at normal traffic volumes and catastrophic at peak ones.

Before building anything new, audit everything running against one question: would I build this today? If the answer is no, archive it. Then:

• Refresh negatives against the last 90 days of search term data, not lifetime views

• Recalibrate bids against current contribution margin, not last quarter’s targets

• Kill any campaign without a clear SKU-level profit rationale

Category CPCs lift 30 to 50% during Prime Day. Every inefficient dollar you’re spending now costs 1.5x in July.

Drift is the signal. Snapshots are noise.

Pull each ASIN’s CTR and CVR against its own six-month baseline. Anything down two or more points isn’t stable; it’s leaking. A 2% CTR drop at normal traffic is a 2% CTR drop. At 10x Prime Day traffic volume, that same leak costs ten times the clicks to overcome.

• CTR dropping? Main image. Fix it before peak amplifies the bleed.

• CVR dropping? A competitor repriced, bundled, or refreshed their A+ while you weren’t watching. You cannot diagnose this during peak. The signal disappears inside the noise.

The rank resets nobody models until it’s too late.

A stockout during Prime Day doesn’t just cost the immediate sale. Amazon’s algorithm treats zero inventory as a relevance signal and immediately begins redistributing rank to whoever sits below you in the category. Recovery isn’t a week; it’s typically four to eight weeks of reduced organic visibility compounding directly into Q4, the highest-value traffic window of the year.

The FBA check-in queue stretches the moment Prime Day gets announced. Book inbound against the worst-case receiving window now. Model the rank recovery cost of a stockout against the storage cost of overstocking. For most SKUs above a healthy margin, overstocking wins by a significant margin.

The brands compounding through H2 aren’t faster in peak.

They’re earlier in the off-season, when decisions are cheap, and the competition is still sleeping.

Intro Last week delivered one of the cleaner performance reversals in recent months, platforms that struggled the prior week recovered sharply while others absorbed budget gains they haven’t earned, making reallocation the most pressing decision on the table.

The Breakdown:

CPC - YouTube and Pinterest saw click costs fall while Snapchat, Axon, and Meta pushed higher,, where CPC rises alongside strong CVR gains, hold spend rather than pulling back on cost alone.

CAC - Google, TikTok, YouTube, and Axon all improved while Microsoft, Snapchat, and Pinterest worsened. Platforms showing CAC improvement with double-digit CvR gains are compounding, so increase budget incrementally and track whether gains hold at scale.

ROAS - YouTube led at +19.77% and Microsoft posted +7.68% while TikTok and Pinterest slipped. YouTube’s full recovery across CVR, ROAS, and CAC in one week makes it the strongest reallocation case right now.

Meta grew its share to 65.60% while YouTube shed -4.00% despite posting the week’s best ROAS, capital is moving away from the highest-performing channel by habit, not logic. Redirect incremental budget to YouTube and Google, and audit Snapchat’s +16.60% share gain before following it.

What Works:

1. Five benefit icons answer the “why switch” question before it’s asked - Odor, dryness, duration, sweat, comfort, the five real objections in this category, are all handled visually without a single line of body copy.

2. His and hers side-by-side is a basket-size play disguised as product ranging. Showing both SKUs in one frame normalizes buying two. No upsell copy needed. The visual logic does it: one for him, one for her, one order.

3. Pedestal staging in a personal care ad signals accessible premiumness. Plinths are for luxury products. Using them for a mass-market deodorant elevates perceived value without changing the price point or making an explicit premium claim.

Lead with the indulgence visual, follow with the health credential. Health snack buyers have already decided they want a treat, your job is to give them the rational justification after desire is already triggered, not before.
